Not Your Ordinary Chicken
My husband thinks that chicken is about one of the most unexciting foods imaginable. So I just love proving him wrong by making dishes that are full of complex flavors like this Chicken Marsala made with earthy mushrooms, fresh herbs and a creamy winey sauce that you will want to lick off your plate. This classic Italian favorite is so incredibly easy to make that it’s perfect for a quick weeknight meal yet it’s special enough to serve to company. And best of all, kids tend to like it too so everybody wins.
Suggested Wine Pairings
This is not your ordinary chicken dish. Chicken Marsala is rich and full of earthy, savory and winey flavors. If you prefer red wine, pair it with an earthy Italian Dolcetto or Pinot Noir. A Cru Beajolais wine would also be an excellent choice as the highest expression of the gamay grape often tastes very similar to a French Burgundy for a fraction of the price. If you are more of a white wine drinker, look for an oaked Chardonnay to match with the buttery sauce. For something different, try a Sauvignon Blanc that has seen some oak aging, often called a Fumé Blanc.
