Layers of Greek Flavor
This easy to make dip is so incredibly full of flavor that you won’t believe it’s actually good for you! Creamy layers inspired by our trip to the Greek Isles, like healthy hummus, avocado, greek yogurt, sun-dried tomatoes and Kalamata olives, come together for a rich flavor explosion. Since you can serve this delicious dip straight out of the refrigerator or at room temperature, it’s also the perfect party or take-along appetizer. For the base, you can make creamy Hummus or use store-bought hummus for an added shortcut.
Suggested Wine Pairings
This Greek-inspired appetizer pairs well with a variety of Greek wines, most of which are quite food-friendly. Look for an Assyrtiko or Athiri from Santorini or a Roditis, all of which have enough acidity to balance the fullness of these flavors. Some other white wines that would complement the tangy, nutty and briny flavors in this dip include Sauvignon Blanc, Austrian Grüner Veltliner or an un-oaked Chardonnay. If you prefer red wines, look for an earthy one with medium body and lower in tannins, like a Greek Xinomavro, which is similar to a Pinot Noir, a Cabernet Franc or Pinot Noir.
