Spring is in the Air
Spring is finally here, which means Easter is right around the corner. And for those of us who love to entertain, that means that it’s about time to host a boozy brunch! This year we’ll be spending it with my family in New Orleans so we get to look forward to Cajun Creole favorites like Eggs Benedict, French Toast, powdered sugar-dusted Beignets and a spicy Bloody Mary or two. In my opinion, no brunch is complete without a decadent pastel colored dessert like my all-time Spring favorite, spiced up pound cake. This is no ordinary pound cake! I make it extra rich and creamy with the addition of light cream cheese and then jazz it up some more with my personal favorite blend of sweet spices. It is truly irresistible!
Suggested Wine Pairings
Don’t overpower this rich, buttery dessert with an equally rich and full-bodied sweet wine. Instead, look for one that is light bodied and less rich than the cake like a sparkling Moscato d’Asti or sparkling Brachetto.
