A Holiday Favorite
Tis the season for holiday parties and get togethers! And I just can’t imagine a single holiday celebration without baked cheese. My go-to party appetizer has always been Bourbon and Brown Sugar Baked Brie. Anyone who’s ever been to one of our holiday parties has tasted this irresistible delicacy which is equal parts appetizer and dessert all rolled into one decadent crispy package. This year I’m doing things a little differently, partly because I am craving savory bites but mostly because I’m all about simplification at the moment. This baked brie has it all! It’s warm, melty and smothered in garlicky herbed truffle oil. Oh, and did I mention that you don’t even have to take the brie out of it’s handy little package? I mean, could it possibly get any easier? So go ahead and drop in for a surprise visit this month. I’m armed with a wheel of Brie and I’m not afraid to use it!
Suggested Wine Pairings
The combination of buttery Brie and rich truffle oil is simply decadent. Look for a crisp, elegant wine that will cut through the richness of the cheese and refresh the palate. If you prefer red wines like me, try an elegant Pinot Noir or a lighter style Cabernet Franc like a Chinon from the Loire Valley of France. If you are a white wine lover, Brie and sparkling wine are a match made in heaven. An unoaked Chardonnay from Chablis or nearby areas in Burgundy would also be a terrific pairing.
